The OwLet is designed to provide supplementary help to students in English composition courses and ongoing support for students who have completed their English composition courses. The goal of the OwLet is to be student-centered by meeting the following criteria:
The heart of the OwLet is the group of trained student tutors who respond to writing submitted by students for tutorial help. Knowing that better papers come only from better writers, our goal is to help students develop their own writing skills. Tutorial responses address content, structure (organization), language, grammar and usage, and form. Tutors are trained to give constructive feedback which suggests improvments and addresses patterns of error rather than to "correct" student papers. Therefore, we do not edit or "fix" papers submitted to the OwLet. Instead, we want to help writers improve their own skills.

The OwLet is a work in progress. As we grow, one of our goals is to expand our target audience. Initially, our audience is LeTourneau students in the traditional university program. Our second target audience will be students in the LeTourneau University GAPS program. Third, we hope to expand our audience to include prospective students, and finally, to include the community at large.
