The OwLet is an online learning site developed by the English department at LeTourneau University. The mission of the OwLet is to provide ongoing writing, research, and language instruction for students at every level of undergraduate study. Eventually, as the OwLet expands, we hope to make the OwLet available to students in the graduate program as well as to prospective students.
Through the OwLet, students can get help in four major areas:
- Get Help from an Online Tutor
- Need help with something you're writing? Use this online form to attach a piece of writing you are currently working on. You'll get an e-mailed response from a trained tutor within 48 hours of submitting your file.
- HOW TOs for Writing Assignments
- What do you need to know to write well as an engineer, a scientist, a business manager, or another profession you've chosen? Link to information from your academic department or to a specific writing assignment for help with content, structure, and other features of specific types of writing. You can also view graded samples of specific assignments.
- Research and Citation
- What's the best way to search the Web? How do you cite information from online sources? How do you access and cite from online databases? What's the difference between MLA, APA, and other citation formats, and how do I use them? Get help with these questions in the Research and Citation section of this site.
- Grammar and Usage
- Need help with punctuation? Verb tenses? Pronouns? The Grammar and Usage section of the OwLet contains tutorials on specific language skills. Each tutorial is designed to address multiple learning styles. Get the help you need in a way that makes sense to you.
